We are 2 days away from the official start of summer everyone! Which means, of course, that bare-feet and jandals are going to be the order of the day in the coming months – hello cracked heels!

Cracked heels are ugly and painful – and they can develop into painful problems if they become deep fissures. But never fear – today I am going to give you 4 fantastic foot scrub recipes that will keep your heels soft, smooth and glowingly healthy all summer long. And you’ll probably have the ingredients in your kitchen cupboards already!

  1. Honey and Brown Sugar Foot Scrub:

  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar (soft brown or the granular kind – either will do)
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • 1 tblsp Honey (if you have active Manuka honey – lucky you! But any old honey is good)
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil (Regular/Virgin/Extra Virgin – it’s all good)
  • Tub of warm water

What You’ll need to do…

  • While your soaking your feet in the tub of warm water, mix all of the ingredients together in a bowl – until you have a thick, sticky paste.
  • Now apply the mixture to both feet and gently scrub using circular motions concentrating on the heels and other areas that are prone to hard skin build-up and calluses.
  • Rinse and thoroughly dry your feet

  1. Brown Sugar and Baking Soda Foot Scrub:

  • 2 Tbsp Brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Baking Soda
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • Tub of warm water

What You’ll need to do…

  • Mix all the ingredients together while you soak your feet
  • Apply the mixture to your feet and scrub in a circular motion
  • Rinse and thoroughly dry your feet
  • Apply moisturiser
  1. Tea Tree and Honey Salt Rub:

...@....(Tea Tree oil is a wonderful and natural anti-fungal agent – so this is a good foot scrub to use if you suffer from Athlete’s foot or other foot fungus problems)

What You’ll need…

  • 1/2 tsp Tea Tree oil
  • 1 tsp Honey (again – if you’re lucky enough to have active Manuka honey on hand, use that – then you’ll be getting double whammy benefits from our wonderful native Manuka tree – which is where tea tree oil comes from too!)
  • 2 tbsp salt (either table,course or sea salt – all work well)
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil
  • Tub of warm water

What you’ll need to do…

  • Mix all the ingredients together while you soak your feet
  • Apply the mixture to your feet and scrub in a circular motion
  • Rinse and thoroughly dry your feet
  • Apply moisturiser
  1. Coconut Lemon/Lime Salt Scrub

.....@.....What you’ll need…

  • Juice and zest of half a lemon or lime
  • 2 tbsp salt or coarse sea salt
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • Half a cup of Coconut cream (for the pre-scrub soak and post scrub final rinse)
  • Tub of warm water

What you’ll need to do…

  • Pour the coconut cream into the the tub of warm water and soak your feet while you mix together all of the other ingredients.
  • Apply the mixture to your feet and scrub in a circular motion
  • Rinse and thoroughly dry your feet
  • Apply moisturiser
