Foot Strengthening
Your feet enable you to take 200 million steps for an average lifespan. Each step you take your foot absorbs between 2 and 3 times your body weight in forces and your foot/ankle musculature need to contract in precise order and force to maintain your forward progression. We strengthen many other parts of our body but we usually neglect our feet, despite the fact that they carry us through an average of 7500 steps each day.
What is Foot Strength?
The ability of the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles of the foot to have the capability to co-ordinate their primary functions.
Functions of Muscles
- Primary functions
- Joint stabilizing
- Joint acceleration
- Joint deceleration
Every injury requires a foot re-strength plan. Each plan is structured for each individuals needs and requirements.
Plans can be either rehabilitative, preventative or maintenance. They can be sports specific, or generalized.
Results vary from individual to individual and from injury to injury. Everyone is unique and respond differently to treatments. For the programme to be effective, you need to attend all appointments and be prepared to do the exercises. They do not take up much time, and only need to be done once a day
